On August 12, the sky will gradually change. The light will fade. The air will feel different. And for a few minutes, everything will come to a standstill.
It will be the first total eclipse in Spain since 1905. The previous one was in 1860.

Where you are going to live it
Not all places are the same to experience an eclipse.
The Sigüenza Aerodrome, at an elevation of more than 1,100 meters, offers something difficult to find: a completely open horizon, without obstacles or interference. Here, the sun falls cleanly over the landscape. And when the light disappears, there is nothing to interrupt it.

You will enjoy a natural environment with a cooler temperature than in the city.

You will discover the sun as you have never seen it before, because a total eclipse is a different way of understanding the sky and what happens in it.
The day will continue with a night of Perseid meteor showers, music, an exhibition of classic and specialty cars, local food tastings, and great company.
What exactly is this event?
It is a day to enjoy a solar eclipse in the company of other car enthusiasts, in a unique environment: the Sigüenza Aerodrome. In addition to the observation of the eclipse, there will be an exhibition of vehicles, food, activities and time to share the experience.
Do I need to have a special car to attend?
No. The event is open to any fan, regardless of the vehicle they arrive in.
Can I attend without a car?
Yes, although the car is an important part of the meeting, it is also possible to attend as a visitor.
Where is it held?
At the Sigüenza Aerodrome, a private space located in the middle of nature, far from urban centers and with excellent conditions for sky observation.
Why was this location chosen?
For its spaciousness, low light pollution, clear horizon and capacity to gather vehicles and attendees comfortably.
Do I need special glasses to observe it?
Yes, the sun should never be observed directly without adequate protection. With the entrance to the event we provide approved sunglasses for this activity.
What happens if it is cloudy?
The event will still be held. Although the weather may affect the direct observation of the eclipse, the experience, vehicles and planned activities will continue.
Will there be explanations or activities related to the eclipse?
Yes, you have all the activities on the website.
What should I bring to see the eclipse?
A folding chair or blanket to enjoy the moment more comfortably is ideal.
Can I bring a telescope, binoculars or my own observation equipment?
Of course. Attendees may bring binoculars, telescopes, cameras or any other astronomical observation equipment. Remember that any optical instrument must use appropriate and approved solar filters to observe the Sun safely.
How long does the eclipse last?
Beginning of the partial eclipse: around 7:35 pm
Beginning of totality: around 8:31 p.m.
Maximum of the eclipse: around 8:32 p.m.
End of totality: around 8:33 p.m.
End of partial eclipse: shortly before sunset, approximately between 9:15 pm and 9:20 pm.
Is the cost included in the entrance fee?
No. The route is a suggestion of the IYLC team and will start from two different areas north and east of Madrid to reach Sigüenza by beautiful scenic and driving roads. Any costs will be communicated to those interested in the route depending on attendance.
What is the difference between the Northern Route and the Eastern Route?
The North Route will be guided by an electric Porsche and the East Route by a 911. Places will be limited and the cost will be defined according to the number of participants.
What is the schedule for the Routes?
Departure times will be defined according to the number of participants and routes. There will be a long and a short one from each of the starting points.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend that you arrive early enough to have easy access, park your vehicle and enjoy the event before the eclipse begins.
Will there be signage?
Yes, access will be signposted from the main arrival points.
Are the roads suitable for low or classic cars?
Yes, all recommended routes are on paved roads and have good entrances to the site.
Can I come and go as I please?
Yes, although we recommend staying during the central hours to fully enjoy the experience.
Can I enter and leave the premises during the day?
Yes, although we recommend staying at the venue during the main hours of the event to avoid queues and not to miss any activity.
What happens if I am late?
You will still be able to access it, although we recommend arriving early enough to enjoy the full experience.
Will there be access control?
Yes, it will be necessary to present the corresponding ticket or accreditation.
Where will the cars be parked?
Vehicles will be distributed within the airfield grounds following the indications of the organization. Classic and special cars will be parked along the runway.
